Reading List: Now I'm reading New Acrylics Essential Sourcebook

My latest discovery is a book entitled New Acrylics Essential Sourcebook, materials, Techniques, and Contemporary Applications for Today's Artist by Rheni Tauchid which is a Watson-Guptill Publication out of NewYork.  The copyright is 2009 so it has been out for a brief while.  I found it most interesting and a wonderful resource for artists.  I highly recommend this book for inspiration and knowledge.  Luckily it was available from my local library.

Art Can be a Great Investment

We have seen the stock market take a nosedive recently. But, art can be a wonderful investment that pays dividends while you enjoy the art. Personally, I prefer oil paintings for investment purposes. However, other media can preserve your precious dollar just as well; such as, watercolor, pastel, or acrylic. The value of the painting is in the eye of the beholder!

Arts & Crafts Contest at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama--Open House Coming Up

My entry to the Arts and Crafts Show is the RED BERET which is HAND CROCHETED by Elizabeth A. Gawronski (artbyliztm).

The June Hughes Arts and Crafts Center at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama will host an Open House August 27, 2009 from 11:30 A.M. to 1 o'clock P.M. There will be food,demonstrations, displays, and give-aways. Also, visitors will be able to view the contest entries and winnning art at the local level of the annual Army Art Contest. Contact Ms. Gina Hurst for additional information at the Arts and Crafts Center, (256) 876-7951. The June Hughes Arts and Crafts Center is located in Building 3615 on Vincent Drive in the large tin-like structure.

Featuring Easter Sunrise

Outstanding weather for an art sale or any other sale on July 18, 2009. There was a nice turnout for the Pathway Church Sale and the Rev. Brian Atwood was there to help the people in any way that he could. I wore my straw hat to keep the sun out of my eyes because it was a truly bright day. Today I featured my oil-pastel painting entiteld Easter Sunrise which has some bright and bold colors. Please see it at right. This painting is available for purchase. Just call me.

Elizabeth Gawronski at Funky Fridays on July 10th, 2009 from 4-8 PM

It was great to be at Artisans Cove for Funky Fridays. The weather was a bit warm but it was a fun day anyway. One of the nice things about going to festivals is that you get to meet some warm and wonderful people. Such is the folk artist I met who goes by the name of She She. Her real name is Sheila, but she told me to call her She She. It was nice to talk with her and to know that she had come here all the way from Birmingham, Alabama.
