Reading List: Now I'm reading New Acrylics Essential Sourcebook

My latest discovery is a book entitled New Acrylics Essential Sourcebook, materials, Techniques, and Contemporary Applications for Today's Artist by Rheni Tauchid which is a Watson-Guptill Publication out of NewYork.  The copyright is 2009 so it has been out for a brief while.  I found it most interesting and a wonderful resource for artists.  I highly recommend this book for inspiration and knowledge.  Luckily it was available from my local library.

Art Can be a Great Investment

We have seen the stock market take a nosedive recently. But, art can be a wonderful investment that pays dividends while you enjoy the art. Personally, I prefer oil paintings for investment purposes. However, other media can preserve your precious dollar just as well; such as, watercolor, pastel, or acrylic. The value of the painting is in the eye of the beholder!

The male point of view expressed in The Huntsville Times

We have an old, and a new perspective on art. I refer you to Mr. Garrison Keillor's column in

The Huntsville Times Forum on Thursday, November 19, 2009. He speaks on behalf of American men everywhere. He's 67 years of age. This is an interesting article that I would recommend to both men and women. It is entitled, "The bare naked truth about art." It was sure to get my attention.

The Holidays are Around the Corner

Don't forget to consider art as a gift this holiday season. One of my paintings is entitled Christmas Puppy, painted in acrylic paints, it is nicely framed in a white frame. Also, there are many other art items available for a lasting and thoughtful gift. Contact the artist for additional information. Check out the www.HelloHuntsville.com web site for a gallery of beautiful art presented as artbyliztm. C All works are copyrighted. Elizabeth Gawronski at Funky Fridays on July 10th, 2009 from 4-8 PM

It was great to be at Artisans Cove for Funky Fridays. The weather was a bit warm but it was a fun day anyway. One of the nice things about going to festivals is that you get to meet some warm and wonderful people. Such is the folk artist I met who goes by the name of She She. Her real name is Sheila, but she told me to call her She She. It was nice to talk with her and to know that she had come here all the way from Birmingham, Alabama. It took her one hour to set up her booth. She can be contacted at (205) 991-5775, address is: 4670 Valleydale Road, B'HAM 35242

and her card says, "I am Proud to be AN AMERICAN FOLK ARTIST." If you love folk art, give her a jingle.
